ADNOC Logistics orders GTT tank design for four 175,000 cbm LNG carriers

ADNOC Logistics and Services has contracted France's Gaztransport & Technigaz for the cryogenic tank design of four liquefied natural gas carriers, each with a capacity of 175,000 cubic metres, to be delivered in the first half of 2029. China's Jiangnan shipyard will construct the vessels.

Mark III Flex membrane containment system#

GTT will design the cryogenic tanks using its Mark III Flex membrane containment system across all four vessels. The French firm received the order from Jiangnan shipyard, which is building the carriers on behalf of ADNOC Logistics and Services, the maritime logistics and shipping arm of ADNOC Group. The membrane system provides the containment infrastructure for the liquefied natural gas cargo.

175,000 cubic metre capacity specification#

Each carrier will provide a total cargo capacity of 175,000 cubic metres. The four-vessel order expands the LNG transport capacity available to ADNOC Logistics and Services. Jiangnan shipyard holds responsibility for vessel construction, while GTT supplies the specialized tank design under the arrangement. The order represents a discrete transaction between the shipyard, the tank designer and the vessel operator.

2029 delivery timeline and recent GTT contracts#

Delivery of all four carriers is scheduled for the first half of 2029. The order follows by more than a month GTT Marine's separate contract to deploy integrated vessel performance solutions across an LNG carrier fleet operated by Petronas. That earlier engagement involved GTT Marine, a division of the tank design firm, rather than the core tank design business. The ADNOC Logistics order centers on the Mark III Flex membrane system for the new vessels under construction at Jiangnan.

Transaction structure and parties#

The commercial arrangement places Jiangnan shipyard as the builder, GTT as the tank design contractor, and ADNOC Logistics and Services as the vessel owner. GTT's role is limited to the design of the cryogenic containment systems that will hold the liquefied natural gas cargo at the required low temperatures during transport. The shipyard manages overall vessel construction and integration of the tank systems into the hull and propulsion infrastructure.
