Trump’s Board of Peace Engages in Gaza Reconstruction Discussions with UAE’s DP World

Dubai‑based logistics titan DP World has reportedly entered negotiations with the so‑called “Board of Peace” linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump to administer supply chains and infrastructural projects in Gaza. The discussions, if confirmed, would grant a sovereign‑capital backed, state‑owned operator oversight of humanitarian cargo movements, warehousing, and cyber‑trackable logistics—capabilities that could re‑energise a blockade‑stifled economy.

The proposal mirrors long‑standing U.S. “New Gaza” initiatives that favour privatising key services. From a regional investment perspective, a DP World‑backed supply‑chain architecture could unlock approximately $23 billion in critical reconstruction outlays within 18 months, thereby injecting sovereign capital into the enclave and providing a conduit for venture capital and infrastructure financing that adheres to the Washington‑backed free‑trade‑zone model.

Stakeholders across the Gulf and Middle East should note that this arrangement would essentially put a major port operator in control of Gaza’s trade nexus, creating new revenue streams for the UAE through port duty, logistics services, and associated commercial hubs. It would also give the United Arab Emirates and its partners leverage to shape a post‑conflict economic corridor that could spill over into Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, potentially stimulating joint ventures in renewable energy, maritime technology, and logistics software platforms.

However, the high‑profile nature of the talks raises concerns about legitimacy, transparency, and the marginalisation of Palestinian agency. International bodies such as the UN, World Bank, and the EU have warned that bypassing multilateral frameworks risks undermining the reconstruction budget estimation of $71.4 billion over the next decade. Whether sovereign capital injections can coexist with equitable development will hinge on the governance models adopted by any DP World partnership and the extent to which Palestinian stakeholders retain decision‑making authority in the rebuilding process.
