Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ convenes Gaza’s reconstruction with UAE’s DP World

DP World, the Dubai‑based sovereign‑backed port operator, has engaged in substantive discussions with a network tied to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” to explore curating a logistics framework for both humanitarian and commercial flows into Gaza. The contemplated partnership would integrate warehousing solutions, cargo‑tracking platforms, and security protocols while simultaneously evaluating the construction of a dedicated port or an adjacent free‑trade zone to revive commercial activity in the enclave.

The proposed arrangement aligns with a broader U.S. initiative to leverage private capital, including sovereign wealth and venture resources, for the reconstruction of Gaza’s infrastructure. With the European Union, United Nations, and World Bank estimating a $71.4 billion rebuild‑out over the next decade, the proposal frames private logistics expertise as a catalyst for mobilising capital that could be sourced from regional development funds and venture‑backed infrastructure vehicles.

From a regional perspective, the initiative threatens to reshape the Middle East’s logistics architecture by coupling DP World’s extensive port network with emerging Palestinian trade corridors, thereby extending the United Arab Emirates’ influence across the Eastern Mediterranean. Such a reconfiguration could accelerate the integration of Gaza into a wider Mediterranean supply‑chain ecosystem, while simultaneously opening avenues for sovereign‑linked venture funds to invest in security‑focused technologies, fintech platforms for aid distribution, and industrial zones aimed at job‑creation.

Nevertheless, the scheme encounters pronounced governance risks, as critics warn that bypassing established multilateral institutions and marginalising Palestinian stakeholders may precipitate de‑legitimation of displacement‑linked reconstruction. The absence of transparency regarding the draft proposal’s origin and the limited public endorsement from DP World’s leadership—currently undergoing post‑Epstein scrutiny—suggests that political and reputational considerations could constrain the advancement of this privatised reconstruction model within the MENA region.
